Yes, you will want to change out the door strike to a deadbolt strike and, you will have to buy a deadbolt lock, so that you will have a key from the outside of your room. You will need to use the backset as well. Good Luck! KFM

It’s very unlikely you can use this with any interior doors. The issue isn’t with the door, but the hardware the door uses. It has to have a stand-alone deadbolt for August smartlock. The August keypad, however, can be used anywhere within close proximity of the smart lock.

This lock works on most deadbolts. It won’t work on a doorknob. If you choose to deadbolt your room, it should work.

You need the August lock, which typically only works with exterior door locks.

This keypad is installed in the deadbolt hole which most internal doors do not have.
