This is an absolute must have if you have the 4th gen august lock. I don’t like to carry keys and sometimes I may forget my phone. So, it’s nice having another option to get in. Install is easy, it paired to my lock within minutes and works very well. It’s small, discreet and functional. I love it!

I love the convenience of just pushing one button to lock the door. 5 digit code to unlock the door if you don't have a key.

I have a love-hate relationship with August. It's great to be able to lock and unlock the door remotely (with August Connect), and it's great to have the door unlock when you approach it with your phone. But the app for Android is very buggy. We use an August lock for an AirBnB property and this keypad is essential if you want to avoid resorting to a lock-box as a backup. I do recall having an issue with the first setup, but on the second try (removing and re-adding it), the keypad worked fine. My only big complaint is the battery only lasts a few weeks.

I love how this is designed. It has a really soft rubber material that kinda looks like a lego. It is also so simple unlike other systems where it looks too techy and it gets intimidating to use.

I’ve several qualms with the August WiFi Smart Lock 4, both technical and with the generally poor tech support August provides. However, I’ve just installed two of these keypads to go with my two August smart locks, and they work exactly as advertised. I installed one outdoors on a left-sided crevice between my security door and the brick wall of my home. Not too farm from my Wifi router inside. The other, I sandwiched between my security door and front door. Installation was very easy, and pairing the keypads with their respective smart locks in the August app was quick and simple. They are small and unobtrusive enough that they are easy enough to hide, given the right architecture of your home/entrance. Creating and deleting passcodes for different individuals is simple, within the August app. These will be of tremendous help as I have various family and a few friends visiting and also as workmen visit and may need entrance to my home when I’m not there. Only complaint is that it’s a bit tricky to release the keypad from its backing to install new batteries, but it’s a very minor issue. A fingernail or a small, flathead screwdriver makes it easy.

I waited to catch this on sale and it's worth every penny. You wouldn't believe how much of a headache trying to get a few people to download the August app and actually use it. With this, that battle is over and done. I read a few reviews about the battery issue. I tried the batteries which came in the box with my remote. They didn't last a day, lol. So please purchase some good batteries and skip past the cheap batteries. You'll get what you're paying for.

Love this accessory. Easily pairs in the app with your August account/lock, and allows you setup temporary or permanent codes to unlock the door. I especially love the ability to lock the door with the august "red" button on the keypad. No more pulling out your phone and waiting on the app to connect. Just push the button, and the door locks! Makes it easy to hit the road for work in the mornings. I've used this for contractors to gain access to my home to perform work, and my relatives who are visiting. No need to leave a key somewhere to be stolen.

Having the keypad with the august lock has been convienent. I have different codes for the dog walker, family, me, etc. It is easy to set up tempoary codes when someone just needs to come in to work on something and leave. Can also set specific times a code is active so you don't need to worry about a stranger being able to come in at any time. No connectivity issues so far. Have had for 2 weeks so cant comment on battery life. 1 star off because after entering a code, the sound comes from the lock if was successful or not, and if it has unlocked. Its quiet and hard to hear sometimes. Also if you accidentally enter a code wrong, the reset cycle period before you can enter again is a bit long.

When it works its great, but it does tend to lose connection and hang on unlock. It eats batteries like nothing I have ever seen. I have had it for less than a month and already had to replace the batteries. It may have been old ones that came with it.

Setup is very easy, just need to follow the instructions. Only issue I had was after setup, the keypad took awhile to open the lock and thought it was a defective unit. called the support line and ended up talking to someone who tried to sell me a new lock after I've only had mine for roughly 8 months. Terrible customer services but after awhile the keypad worked seamlessly with the lock. Great addition, expecially if you have people coming in and just need a single use code

In tandem with the August door lock, this keypad is a godsend to anyone with short-term rental properties. No more running a key to / from renters. No more worry about duplicate, lost, or broken keys. No digging through pockets in winter or fumbling and dropping keys. It's early to use, remote capable, and well worth the investment.

This is a good alternative keypad to have in place in the case a smartphone or app is not available to open your door. Pairs well with the smartlock and pushes firmware updates as needed through the app.

Nice looking and easy install but a little glitchy and kinda of delayed

I would prefer that this have indicated lock and unlock buttons, vs the single "unlock" button at the bottom that has no indication on it that is what it is. It is very easy to hit the wrong buttons by accident. And if you do that you have to wait about 30 seconds for the unit to "clear" and the backlight to go out to try again. This is a bit unacceptable and a programming "fail" in my opinion. You should be able to start the button sequence over immediately upon hitting the single button on the bottom. A positive is that the unit will allow you to enter 4-digit numbers even though it comes factory programmed for 5-digit number. The time-lag between pushing the correct number sequence to the lock actually unlocking is between 2 and 10 seconds, which makes a person think they are doing something wrong. And I have this button installed 18" from the lock and there is a glass panel between. Lucky this was the case, because the Bluetooth range appears to be very limited. I am going to keep this, since I do not have a lot of other options to work with my August deadbolt lock, but would advise anyone considering to be aware it does not work as well as it should.

This keypad is the perfect addition to the August smart lock. It’s super easy to set up and includes double sided tape for affixing It near your door. A bit pricey but convenient for when your August and Bluetooth don’t talk to each other as quickly as is needed.

This device makes it easier to deal with the August Lock, especially if you don't carry your phone around all the time and don't want to carry a key either. It also allows you to set the auto-lock and not have to worry about not being unable to unlock the door after 30 minutes. It was on sale. I'm not sure it would be worth the full price. I had no problems with connecting the device and battery life has not been a problem. It doesn't look as fancy as some of the keypads for other locks, but works well and is a good addition to the system.

this keypad is easy to install and it works well. sometimes you have to put the code in twice before it will unlock but overall it gets the job done.

It seems like from the reviews that either I have gotten too bad keypads or that people are saying good things just for the hell of it. The first keypad that I got lasted a few months and then it eventually stopped working and I swap the batteries and then it started lighting up but the keypad would no longer unlock the door and then once I unlock paired the keypad it would not appear to the lock again. Thankfully August Pro Support and Customer Service sent me a replacement and that one lasted a few more months and they are now sending me a new replacement as of today. Maybe it's the lock that I have, maybe it's the conditions here in Virginia, which aren't hot nor cold, or maybe I just have a bad luck with these keypads but they seem inconsistent, but when they do work they are marvelous!

The August Lock in spite of its hype can be a bit temperamental and does not always open properly with my iPhone or my wife’s in Geo mode. So the effort to launch the August App to unlock the door is well, painful. The Keypad though simple in concept is brilliant in execution. Looks great, Installed in minutes and Functions like a dream. Geo does not get the job done, digits on my hand, finish the deal. Happier than a nerd in a Fry, Crutchfield or BestBuy without a key and no limit.
