• Yes you can but if your to far away it won't work. My husband has it where it unlocks in 5 mins

• The lock itself only uses Bluetooth LE so it's effective range is like maybe 10ft-15ft or so. To remotely control the lock when you are outside of Bluetooth range you would need the August Connect.

• The original answer is partially correct... In the original form, the August lock operates via Bluetooth, so you do need to be within a ~30' range. If you add the August Connect module, then your lock may be controlled via wifi. if you opt for this set up, then you can have remote opening and closing.
