Hello Momof8. If you review the 3rd image on bestbuy.com you will see the buttons for the hot, cool, and cold water dispenser, located on the top of the unit. The hot water can not be dispensed without releasing the child safety lock. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Lock is on the hot water feature only. You can however completely shut off the hot water feature utilizing the switch on the back panel. Allow time for the hot water to cool off if you had it on prior. Dispensing water is done by pressing the buttons that are location on the top portion of the machine.
