You're right that it won't. Once the power goes off the TV shuts down. When you switch the power back on (via Wemo) the TV would need to be manually turned back on. There may be a type of SmartTV that you could buy that would allow you access to turn it on and off via internet. Not sure.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Technically, it can. But if the TV has a digital On/Off, you will need to use its remote. The purpose of the Wemo Switch is only to cut/provide power to the device that is connected to it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'll tell you how I got mine set up and maybe that work for you as well. Rather than use te switch for tv, I went with harmony hub ultimate plus mason echo and that way I can use my harmony or voice through Alexa an ifttt. Not sure if it can be used to access when away from home
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depending on your TV manufacturer it would only supply power but the actual turn on needs to come from a remote control. This would work for a device with a power switch that is toggled to on when it is plugged in (i.e. light fixture, clock, fan)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Most newer tvs it won't work. Try pulling the plug on the tv and plugging back in. If it goes to where u left off your in business if not your cats will have to wait till u get home.
