Both will control your device via your wireless network. The Insight switch will also monitor your device's electric usage and give you notifications and reports.

The only difference is that the Wemo Insight can monitor the time, energy and cost of your device. Plus, I believe Belkin discontinued the Wemo Switch so the Wemo Insight Switch is the only option.

I only have the regular switch but from my research the insight switch give you details about power usage through that outlet

Wemo insight is physically a bit less bulkier and may be nicer looking. It has better software for reporting to you the actual amounts of power being used and recommending what you can do to save power. I believe that's it.

Wemo insight lets you monitor energy use with the product you plug it into and monitor other energy things. Wemo switch does not.

Insight will tell you the details on the usages of the item plugged into the switch. For example, the lamp is using x kwh and costs $2.65 to operate per month based on how many times you turn on the lamp and for how long.

The switch basically works just as a switch. It does on, off, and timed settings. The insight switch does all that plus sends info to your app including power usages. Basically the insight just gives you more info.

The insight allows you to track usage of the device plugged into it. If all you're looking to do is control something remotely, probably not necessary but if you're trying to see how much money you're using of a device the insight would be for you.
