• No, this is only good for the tv. You don't want additional weight on the wall.

• No there is no shelf. I have my Roku mounted below the TV on a table. I also have a Fire TV and Chromecast attached directly to the HDMI ports and left hanging with no problem (can't see them because they are behind the TV). Also have to consider if your peripheral has an IR remote, in which case you have to have line of sight.
