“Do the mounts need to screw into a stud?? or will they hold if the are mounted through the drywall only??”

I personally use the studs on the wall.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Based on the weight of a TV, I certainly would not install solely into drywall. I had a Best Buy third-party tech install this mount for me, on a 65” Samsung TV. My wall studs are metal and spaced 16” apart. He said that this mount could only reach 1 stud and that the other end would be anchored into the drywall. He assured me that TV was secure and safe from ever loosening up. Honestly, I’m glad it was him installing the TV. If I had been doing it myself, I probably would have returned the mount for one that was able to be anchored into 2 studs, because I am overly cautious. The fact that the company stands behind his work, and it is covered by TotalTech is enough for me.
