You have to put in hot tap water...the machine does not heat up the water. Once you put hot water in, the machine is designed to keep it heated...although due to the size of the tank I assume you will have used all the water before it cooled off anyway. Directions say to not microwave water I assume because it could get too hot for the machine.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Mamma - this machine uses water extraction to clean and does not produce steam. We recommend using hot but not boiling or microwaved tap water in the cleaner.
