It depends on the model you purchased . Read the fine print in the user guide. Mine did not come with separate charging base.

I had to call them about this myself. If you look at the owners manual, there are three model numbers on the cover. The particular model number for this vac does not have a base. You have to read the section on charging the vac to get that information. One model (this one) only comes with a charging cable. I bought two of them — returned the first one when the motorized brush stopped working, and will be returning the second one for the same reason.

I did not get a charging base with this unit....just a power block and cord for charging. I think the advertising on the package is not clear. However, that said the vacuum is wonderful and works beautifully on the stairs and dog hair.
