• No, it works through an App. There is a cost for clip storage, but you don’t have to sign up for that.

• The Blink Mini does come with a free trial of our subscription service, once the trial has ended you would have the option to either continue with the subscription for a nominal fee or purchase the sync module2 (coming soon) for local storage. If you do neither you can still use the Blink Mini for live view and to receive notifications you would just not be able to record/save any clips.
