Hi Chris! Live View and motion alerts are always available, even without a subscription, but with the Sync Module Core you'll need a subscription active if you want more advanced features and the ability to save clips to the cloud. If you're looking to avoid a monthly subscription, I would consider a bundle that features the Sync Module XR. The Sync Module XR features a built-in Micro SD Card slot that you can use for the local backup feature, which will save motion clips locally to view later. The Sync Module XR supports all the same features of the Sync Module Core as well as the ability to have two of your Outdoor 4 cameras connected up to 400 ft away!
