Yes..i did for a few days. It will pop up with a screen wanting you to activate it but you can skip that process. If you enter a google accout it might even skip it all together...

Use it as a tablet over WiFi. Technically the device is yours. Boost made money from the phone sale, phone service with Boost is your choice not an obligation.
