go to your provider buy the service and have the unit turned on. i used boost, they 25.00 a month plus 15.00 activation fee, hope this helps. otis

Once you purchase the ZTE you are ready to visit BoostMobile.com to set up an account, activate the device and pick a PLAN. Two monthly Plans are available. $25 for 1.5 Gb of data or $50 for 10 Gb of data. You have the option to change plans at any time. If you don't select "Auto Renewal" you can simply renew at your convenience whenever you want to. (Sometimes I skip a few weeks or a month ... and pay nothing, until I need to renew my Plan.) If I know I will need a lot of usage, I purchase the $50 Plan. Reliability here in MA is excellent ! I also use the ZTE with my laptop when I take road trips in my RV. Good Luck !
