• You need an adapter .. Your HDTV will get connected to the adapter via optical cable and your speakers will be connected with the adapter.

• Thanks for the question! The 161 speakers require an amplifier for power, so they cannot be connected directly to a TV. This is true of any passive speaker. However, you can certainly connect a TV’s audio output to an amplifier that is powering the 161 speakers.
