Not Surprised Bose Did it Again!!!
Posted .So, I used to have a Philiips 5.1 1000W. Honestly, I used to think that sounded great! I finally had some extra money to upgrade and I did. I got this unit! When I hooked it up, which By the way was REALLY easy, it sounded AMAZING! Anyway, This thing BLEW my Old Philips out of the water! The bass is wild during movies. I love that I can turn the Bass up or down so I don't Tick my Wife off while she's studying. lol The Clarity is very powerful. The appearance is beautiful. For those of you that wrote that it doesn't have the "Surround sound". . . Well what do you expect for a 2 SPEAKER SYSTEM. But to me, it sounds very impressive for only 2 speakers. At times I would swear there is speakers behind me. I would recommend this to almost anyone. If you are looking for the FULL surround sound I would keep saving your pennies and just get the Next model up with 5 speakers. Otherwise this one is amazing! Now, On to price. Yes, It is a little pricey. But honestly, it's well worth the price. Plus, That same old saying goes "You get what you pay for". Sure you can go and get a "Surround Sound" For maybe $200-300 but it won't compare to this! Plus, ITS A BOSE! They are all expensive because BOSE knows what they got! Plenty of people are more than willing to pay the Bigger dollars for better quality and BOSE knows it! I love this product and wouldn't trade it for anything!

well worth the home work
Posted .i want to start out that i already have a dedicated theater room with 120'' screen, actual theater seats, hdtv/3D projector, sunfire sub/speakers 7.1 DD so i know a little about home theaters. my living room has a 55'' samsung and i didnt want 7.1 in this room, so looked at sound bars at least 350.00 on up. then came bose system for under 600.00 and i will tell you right now. invest the extra for this system. no bottom end what so ever and the sound is just amazing. 10 minutes to hook up and it is perfect if your looking for non total wired/wireless suround setups. 4 button remote is perfect sized and you can place sub anywhere and there is no distortion or bounce back. im sorry for such a long posts but this is why i purchaced this system to begin with is because of the reviews. then i went to listen and nothing else in the store came close. again it dosnt hammer like a 2200.00 sunfire, but for a living room and under 600.00 it is well enough power to rock your xbox or blurays.

What a pleasant Surprise!!
Posted .I've been researching for a new system for days now, I looked at sound bars, new 5.1 speakers but for some reason I kept coming back to Bose, YES I do have (or had and put away) a full blown 5.1 system, Onkyo TX-SR605 and Infinity speakers I bought 12 years ago which sounded great BUT I wanted something new to compliment my new Samsung 40" LED. I live in a small apartment and I got tired of all the wire clutter. The moment I hooked everything up, I turned on my PS3(main Blu-ray player), played Black Hawk Down and within the first few minutes I couldn't believe it, the sound was very wide, loud and engulfing. It's not true 5.1, 7.1 etc.....BUT very close, I actually had to turn down the bass because my whole apartment was shaking. The only way to find out if this is the system for you is to hear it for yourself, you have nothing to lose other than the possibility of going back to the store to the return the thing if you don't like it...the price is high but what you get is quality and simplicity

Good value... even for Bose
||Posted .I'm in a small one bedroom Apt. I'd been using an AIWA mini system for over a decade. Before you laugh, it was a great system with great sound. It was over $300 ten years ago and still sounded great. In fact, the bose speakers are not much better. I used to DJ and understand sound fidelity, clarity, etc. so how clear something sounds is important to me. I thought I could piece together a better system for $600-$700 dollars but as I began looking around - to do that I would needed more space and more money. I wanted something (without a tape deck) that looked clean, simple and could produce quality sound. Bose does exactly that. It's an easy set up, and the sound is excellent. The price of Bose always makes me hesitate but when you pick up the speaker (compared to say, any of the satellite speakers for a HTIB system) you instantly know it's of much higher quality. The complaint I saw most of these speakers was that you had to keep to volume up to hear voices. It's true - and a tad annoying for me (and probably for my neighbors) when I'm watching T.V. late at night. But it's not extreme. Other minor issues - the speaker wire is rather short. If you've going to mount these up on a wall away from the sub woofer, you'll need more cable. Also, it's only connecting to one source. It's not a problem for me, as I play everything through my T.V. (music, blu ray, netflix, etc.), but something to be aware of if you have multiple devices that don't have a focal point. Overall, I'm very happy with the system. I went with the cinemate series II as oppose to the level up (priced around $700). I could tell virtually no difference in the sound quality between the two. If you've got the space and the time, you can probably piece together a better surround system than this can produce - but if you want a good looking, solid sounding system, you won't be disappointed with this one.

FANTASTIC SOUND!!!
||Posted .This Bose system is fantastic!! We set this entire thing up in less than 10 minutes AND it came with all wiring needed! No need to purchase additional wires as suggested by the sales person. Out of the box, it's perfect as suggested. The two small speakers fit very nicely on our tv stand, and that was important because we really like a clean look. The subwoofer is a bit big, and I really wish it could be smaller, but the sound quality makes up for that. The wiring module is the same size as our Apple TV, so you won't lose any space with that either. You'll not be sorry with this purchase!! We saved up for this and bought it as our anniversary present to each other - and we are certainly not sorry - even a month later!!

Small footprint. BIG SOUND
||Posted .I bought this to enhance our movie watching experience on our 50" Plasma. The small speakers fit perfectly on our tv console - very inconspicuous. The sub-woofer base module sits off to the side. All cables provided enough length to work without worry. I liked how simple it was to set up - 15 minutes tops. When we have the system on, it really enhances the movie soundtrack and effects. While not as perfect as a true surround sound unit, it is a close enough experience. Once the volume is set to where you want on the system you don't have to really mess with it. However, you will need to keep the remote handy to turn the system on and off. I wish it was either a) smart enough to turn on with the TV or b) had a physical switch on one of the speakers. All in all, we've been pleased with the unit.

Amazing sound for size and budget
||Posted .Super easy, compact 3 speaker (2 + sub) set up with amazing BOSE sound. Was very suspect when comparable priced home theater set ups had 5.1 set up with all the bells and whistles while this only has 2 speakers (no true surround sound) and a sub...doesn't matter. I demo'd a number of times in various settings and was sold. Not disappointed one bit...great for my smallish family room...very clear, distinct...also great for music played thru direct tv box.

Bose sound at an awesome price.
||Posted .I have been looking at a Bose sound system for my TV for some time and then this system went on sale for a little over half the regular price. Bose sound under $300. I am a movie lover and huge football fan. The sound quality in the movies down to the door squeak are perfectly clear not to mention the explosions in the action flicks. Sideline to sideline action sound-you can hear the the impact of each hit during the NFL games I watch. I feel like I am standing next to the field....yeah, that good.

Q: QuestionDo I need to purchase anything extra to hook up the system....wires etcDo I need to purchase any cables in addition to the system as it is?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No additional cables are needed to hook the CineMate system up. CineMate products come with both a Stereo RCA Cable and an Digital Optical cable in the box to allow you to connect to other audio devices. The box also includes the speaker cables, power cord and interface module. It should have everything you need to get the system running. Thanks!

Q: QuestionCan you adjust the base.....experiencing too much base on some TV channels.I have enjoyed the Bose unit/speakers......but on some TV channels, there is too much BASE. Can I adjust the base (turn it down somehow?).
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, the intensity of the bass can be easily adjusted! The Cinemate Series II and the Cinemate GSII models both come equipped with a single tone-control knob to adjust the amount of bass output from the system. This is bass control is located on the back of the Acoustimass Module and simply labeled “Bass”. Thank you for the question!

Q: QuestionCan you hook your ipod up to this system
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Thank you for your question. The CineMate GS Series II system has two available inputs. One is a digital optical connection, usually used for Bluray/DVD players and HDTV cable and satellite boxes. The other input is a, RCA, red and white analog connection. You can connect your iPod to the Cinemate. You would do this with a cable that has a 3.5mm stereo plug on one end and the red and white, RCA, connection on the other. You would connect the 3.5mm connection to the headphone output on your iPod, and the other end into the Bose. (This answer is true for the Bose CineMate Series II Digital Home Theater Speaker System as well.)

Q: QuestionWhat can it hook up to?I am buying this for my living room and would like to know if it can be hooked up to my hdtv cable box, ps3, and xbox360 all at the same time or can it only be used with one??
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The CineMate® Series II has only a single input (Optical Digital or Analog RCA) that is meant to attach to the audio out on your HDTV. Generally all your other devices such as Cable/Sattelite boxes, DVD players and game consoles would all attach directly to the TV. In this setup the Cinemate® would simply produce sound from whatever source was playing on the TV at the time.

Q: Questionremotecan i switch the remote to my tv remote to control the volume
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The CineMate Series II system’s remote control is not capable of controlling other devices. If you have a universal remote control with a compatible Bose code programmed into it, it may be able to control the CineMate’s volume functions. Another option would be to purchase our CineMate GS Series II model with includes a universal remote control with the upgraded speaker package. We hope this helps. Thanks!

Q: QuestionNew set up, pondering about Bose new purchase.Hello, first off I just want to say how impressed I was when I first heard the CineMate® Series II set up. I have a huge background in car audio and love a good home theatre system and this series left me speechless. Me and the wife are currently thinking of purchasing the CineMate® Series II but I have two questions: 1. Does the optical cables sound differ from the typical analog output? 2. Will the CineMate® Series II play my blue ray movies with no sound file issues on a Sony BDP-BX18/S185? Thank you in advance, Mind blown future customer.
Asked by Joshua.
- A:Answer Hi, thanks for your interest! You can certainly get improved sound quality from a digital optical connection over analog. This is due to the fact that a Dolby Digital signal can be transmitted via optical, which the CineMate Series II system can decode. There should be no compatibility issues with your Blu-Ray player. If you have any further questions, please contact our technical support team who will be happy to help. They can be reached at 1-800-380-4831 and are available 8:30am-10:00pm M-F, 9am-7:00pm Sat EST.

Q: QuestionWill this Speaker work with Desktop like iMac - If yes, do i need any more accesories to buyWill this Speaker work with Desktop like iMac - If yes, do i need any more accesories to buy
Asked by Guru.
- A:Answer Thanks for your question! The CineMate Series II system will certainly work with your iMac. You would need a 3.5mm male stereo to dual male RCA adapter cable. This would connect the headphone output (3.5mm) of the iMac to the RCA input of the CineMate system.
