“I have 2 sets of Bose 251 speaker. A total of 4. What type of receiver do I need to connect 4 speakers. Do I need a 2 channel of 4 channel ? I don’t know the difference. 2 of the speak are upstairs on a boat dock and the other 2 are below by boat.”

A 2 channel receiver with A and B speaker switches will work. I have an older Denon 2 channel receiver and one set inside and another outside.
