“Optical audio to 3.5mm input not working I have an LG Smart TV with optical audio output. I purchased an optical audio to 3.5mm cable so that I could connect it to the aux input in the Bose Companion 5, but no sound is coming out of the speakers. I have set the TV up for external speaker use (Audio out). Why is this not working?”

Try to connect usb plug from you companion to your TV or something else. This Companion Bose system seems to need usb to be plugged even if it's not a pc/mac. I think Bose does not want you to use this system outside pc/mac environment so much that sound is so good/close to Bose home system.

Please try again later.You need to have it hooked up to the input that has the circle with arrow in between also the volume pad is very sensitive.another issue might be is you might have the connectors in wrong place or not fully connected And regarding the tv external speaker don't use just lower tv volume to zero and use Bose volume.
