• The printer comes with the drum and a starter cartridge assembly. The drum lasts through approximately 12,000 pages printed. I expect the printer will put up a message on the display when the drum needs replacing, or just cleaning. Depending on the cartridges used, you may have to replace the drum after several cartridges or closer to 8 or 9. Just replace the cartridge in the drum assembly till then.

• The original drum unit that came with the Brother HLL2395DW machine can be used with your new toner cartridge. There is no need to replace the drum just yet the machine will display the message "replace drum" when the drum needs to be replaced.
