Can this model pull a stack of several 11" x 17" size paper through it's scanner, or does each piece of paper need to placed on the glass individually (manually one at a time)? Also, please verify that it does do color scanning. null

The answer to both questions is yes. The sheet feeder for the scanner can be widened to just under 12 inches, so 11 x 17 documents can be scanned if an 11-inch side is faced into the machine. The height of the feeder opening is about an inch, so a stack of anything (11 x 17, 8.5 x 11, or anything else) that high can be accommodated.

The Brother MFC-J6545DW can handle up to 50 pages of 11x17 paper through the automatic document feeder. This is single sided scanning on the 6545.

I do not have any 11x17 paper to try but I can confirm that the document feeder is large enough to handle 11x17 paper. It can definitely scan color.

This printer will feed 11 X 17 from the ADF. I only tried it with 3 sheets but they all fed fine through the ADF.
