It would but not with the kit lens . It would be much better if you used a lens with a bigger aperture like a 1.8 or lower

Something with a nice low aperture 1.8, so that the aperture blades are nice and wide in order to to let more light in. I'd recommend the Sony Alpha 7r2. It is pretty pricey though. They perform amazing with a higher ISO. This camera would introduce too much noise and only has an iso range of 100 - 25,600. It does perform great in low light. The question is "are you doing this as a hobby, or professionally?"
