It connects to WiFi so it is available to any device that can access/is on the same network.

Only when I scan & I want it to go to my computer then I need I need to connect my computer with a usb to the printer. This printer ask a lot of questions about what you are about to print. You CAN'T buy a pack of colors here. I went on line & bought from canon for a good price.
