Yes it comes always standard with one way. You can upgrade at any time. I asked the same question to auto tech when I purchased mine. I was told if I didn't purchase with original install and wanted to upgrade later it would take about 15 minutes for them to do. I did purchase the 2 way and love being able to verify that it started. It can run 35 minutes and its Unlimited starts Versus factory (which is 2 or 3 and if they don't start you have to go out and do it, no more chances). You will be happy you upgrade and the distance is amazing.
