“I do not understand how a bake/broil oven is not built with a timer. Per a review from a few yrs ago the reviewer also stated it did not have auto on/off function. How is heating duration managed?”

The only auto off function it has is for bagels and toast. For baking and broiling, you have to time it yourself and then turn it off manually. In this aspect, it's more like a traditional oven than a toaster oven. It would be nice to have, but I've ended up being ok with it.
