Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.PCGeek, to the best of my knowledge, Windows laptops have power settings to conserve energy when a laptop is running on battery power and not being used. It also has settings to turn the display off and the hard drive off if the computer is not being used. You must adjust your settings for the amount of time that you want the computer to stay on under both conditions if it is not in use. (If you are in an office, I recommend that you have your display to sleep and lock within a minute of your leaving your desk. To save energy, shut the hard drive down after 15-20 minutes.) However, if your computer is connected to this battery backup when the power goes out, it will not shutdown according to your Windows PC battery power setup because it will think that the power is still on, as long the battery in this battery backup device is not depleted. But, If you have your computer set to sleep or shutdown when it is not in use while plugged in to power after a set time, the computer will shutdown as you have designated in your settings. I hope this helps!
