“If i was to buy a 16gb set of ram for this computer(of the same brand and type) do i just pop them in whatever order i want? or does it have to be inserted a certain way or pattern? thank you.”

Ram can only go on the DIMM slot in one way. Each will have a little gap by the pins. Attempt to match that gap with the notch on the DIMM slot. This will allow you to install the ram correctly, installing it wrong will damage the RAM.
