You do not need wi-fi but if you want to see the video or images on your phone the system will need to be connected to the internet.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have mine setup connected to an Ethernet cable from my router. This lets me use my phone to view the cameras, alerts and look through old footage from my phone. Your phone can get signal wherever you get phone signal, your wifi if you have it or your 3g/4g/5g signal from your carrier (be careful if you have limited data from your mobile provider, it can use a fair amount of data).
