Will this run VR? That's all my child cares about. null

It will not support the Oculus Rift S due to a difference in the connection type required for that headset and that may be the most requested VR headset out there for the PC. The computer is more than capable of powering it but doesn't support it due to the connection type. You need to find a VR headset that supports HDMI or USB-C OR find a laptop that has native DisplayPort connection built in if you want the Oculus.
