• I haven't noticed any backlit option as of now. It is not having backlit option.

• Because Dell makes multiple versions of the i5558 series that this laptop is built on, some models will have a backlit keyboard. This particular model does not have one.

• I'm typing on it right now, and the keyboard is not backlit. Not sure what they mean by "optional" - -probably a generic video that applies to several models.
