I had to go through the Dell support app preloaded on the computer. Register through the program and go through all the updates it recommends. It takes awhile. Make a recovery drive per instructions, 32 GB flash drive. After all the initial steps the windows product is registered through Dell. I tried doing registering through windows update at beginning but it didn't work. Then went back through Dell app and followed directions.
