Yes. The back cover comes off just like most of the Dell laptops. You can replace the HDD with and SDD and there is also a slot for those MMC drives. So you can add 2 drives. There are 2 memory slots. The 12GB has a 4GB and 8GB. I have the 17.3. It may be different for the other sizes. Some nice improvements are the ghost screen seems now a thing of the past but didnt really affect the Inspiron series. The top and bottom covers are both metal. You can press on the back of the screen and you will see NO movement on the front of the screen. You can open and close the screen from the corners and see no screen artifacts and little flex in the cover. The keyboard tray is also metal. The mouse may need some getting use to. I liked the on the HP Spectre the best. Waiting to see if this one has an active digitizer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.back cover comes off easily, has an open m.2 sata slot, great for a solid state drive, 2 ddr4 ram slots, and an easily upgradable wifi card
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, there are 12 screws on the backcover. I'm eventually upgrading the wifi card (Currently installed is a 3165NGW) and Ram, but for now I will be installing Samsung's really fast M.2 for ultra fast read speeds when booting, and then a 500GB SSD Evo for storing music, CDs, MP3 so they boot quick as well and keep the heat from spinning drives out. Those are honestly the only 4 upgrades I would make.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes the back can be opened. It has 12 Philips screws which you undo, then gently nudge the back open (use a credit card as not to scratch the material). Once opened you have access to the HDD, WI-Fi card and RAM and a M.2 memory slot
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, pretty much the memory can be upgraded 16 gb. Not seeing much else other than possibly a larger hard drive. It is a 2 tb drive already though. How much do you need.
