• S mode is a software safety sandbox to make the OS more restricted on what can be installed (and therefore more secure and less prone to security threats). S mode can be turned off, but cannot be re-enabled once you turn it off.

• Windows 11 in S mode is a version of Windows 11 that's streamlined for security and performance, while providing a familiar Windows experience. To increase security, it allows only apps from Microsoft Store, and requires Microsoft Edge for safe browsing. Also, it's streamlined to eliminate RAM and CPU use.
