Depends on your card's display outputs and if the card supports the native resolution. If it is a GTX 980 you are referring to, then I'm sure it would work as a simple display device at the native display resolution. I'm not sure if freesync is supported on the 900 series (think Nvidia enabled freresync going back to 1000 series). As to if your 980 can game at the native res with high frame rates...that is another matter and entirely dependent on the settings you choose.
