• It is a protector for the end of the cord. It is removed before connection.

• End plug covers are securely dangled from the cord. The covers are snugly fitted over plugs, but simply pull free.

• It’s just a protective cover to keep the optical connection from getting damaged when not connected. It pops right off...not a problem.

• Yes, just a protective cap. Hook up was easy, once I figured out if the other end went to the TV or satellite receiver. (Goes to the TV).
