“Digital Optical through tv to old receiver I recently got an xbox one only to find after the purchase that optical was required for 5.1 sound (after talking with ms support). Can I run the optical from the xbox to my hdtv (which has an optical input) and then have the sound come though to my old receiver (that has no optical input) which is connected to my hdtv via the old rca red, white, yellow output jacks? (I don't care if its lesser quality...just want surround without having to buy a new surround setup after paying out $500 for my not so next gen console)”

Use a Fosmon digital to analog converter. I had the same problem.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The cable should work, depending on the TV. The question would be better asked of the TV manufacturer or the receiver manufacturer. They will have better information on whether the TV supports this or not.
