both ends are exactly the same and should be on your sound bar, if not you need to return and get a another one.

Both ends are the same. It's a straight through patch cable with 2 male ends.

Hello! Each end of the cable is roughly square, notched on two sides (sort of like a roof) with slight protrusions on either side. These plug into an (often covered) port labeled SP/DIF. If your soundbar accepts optic cables, that is!

the optical cord ends are identical. the optical ports, on ALL electronics, are also....identical. sometimes they are hard to find...refer to diagrams in your owners manual.
