A:AnswerStuds can be either 16" or 24" inches and the buildings do not necessarily have to be "old" to have 24" spacing between the studs. I live in a brand new apartment complex and the studs are spaced 24" inches apart. Needless to say, it is very annoying to try and find a wall mount suitable.
