Hello Irene, this is Kelly with Dyson. The Cyclone V10 Motorhead works well on all flooring types. It features a direct-drive cleaner head, and the spinning brush bar is powered by its own motor. The brush bar cannot be shut off on the cordless models, so if bristles are a concern on any of your hard flooring, we would recommend the Absolute model. This has two cleaner heads; one is the torque drive head which is similar to the direct drive head - it features spinning bristles ideal for carpeting. The other head is the soft roller head which was engineered specifically for bare floors. This head has a soft roller which is gentle on bare floors, but still provides enough suction and power to capture all dirt and debris. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
