It plugs into your obd2 port and allows the thinkware to be powered while the vehicle is off. This basically enables you to hardwire the dash cam without having to splice in wires. Its. It necessary but if you dont want to splice, then this makes it easier.

It gives you continuous power from the odb port so you can enable parking mode for the dash cam. You can use this or buy a hardwiring kit to achieve the same results, otherwise you gonna have to use the power cord that plugs into the lighter (which comes in the box) but you will not have parking mode.
