While doing the initial mapping? Yes but if you have a large area to clean you should turn on charge then resume and set it to low suction so it can get a good map of the area first. It needs to map the entire area first before it saves the map. There are lots of tips out there to make first time mapping easier. Once it has the map, it will update if furniture is moved, boxes on the floor. doors opened, stuff like that.
