No. The ethernet connections are available on each device if needed but not required. You only need to connect ethernet on the main device.

You will connect one at a time.Then they will all mesh as one wifi sig.I have mine about 35 ft apart. It covers my hole house and yard.Best buy i have ever made. They work great. Good Luck.
