“I have ISP speed of 500 mbps up and down. When connected via ethernet to Eero Pro 6 I get close to 490 Mbps however on all my devices the wifi speed is not more than 170 mbps up and down standing close the Eero pro 6. no help from tech. Is this expected ?”

Try resetting it. I use to have that problem with the 2nd generation. But I reset mine and even on WiFi I get full speed 989.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It depends on what kind of device you're using. For example, most cell phones will get you higher download speeds than tablets. Even though my ISP provides up to 1 Gbps, my iPad maxes out at 350 Mbps, while my iPhone XS has achieved double that speed with ease.
