Hello,
Once the percolator is removed from the heating plate it will automatically turn OFF due to Safety Function.  Each time the percolator is set on the heating plate push the ON button to keep warm.

Yes, you can press the button again once you have lured a cup of coffee and the warming feature will be on. However, it only keeps warm for a short time.
