The sensor has a counter in it that counts the number of pages that have been printed with the cartridge. After a set number of pages are printed the chip signals through the printer that the cartridge needs to be replaced.

Please try again later.From previous info I received Sensor means you will receive a much higher range of colors and more contrast and quality in your photos plus the high yield provides more ink or toner allowing more printing capability than a standard cartridge! Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The sensor on the cartridge is to let you know that the cartridge is firmly and correctly installed in the printhead. then it will alert you to the fact that it is getting low and it is time to reorder that color.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe it tells the cartridge when its almost empty and time to get a new one. I had an HP for awhile that had a sensor in it to tell HP when to send me new cartridges, too bad machine broke before my year was up.... Best I can tell you
