is installing the software mandatory and easy? null

Yea it’s mandatory but very easy especially on Mac

Installing the software is not difficult. you have to download from the web. it does take some time though. You do not have to install all the software but i believe the twain driver is necessary for your other software to work. Also if you want the scan button to work on the scanner it needs the Document Capture Pro installed

Yes it only took about 10 mins, it was pretty straight forward
