The WF-7840 works best with Epson cartridges. Third-party cartridges may not work reliably, or work at all even if they are advertised to be compatible. Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.

A:AnswerI don’t know, I returned it because the document feeder would pull multiple pages through at once, once it pulled an entire file through. It was also a huge pain to set up, it only wanted to print on paper loaded in the back and would say it was out of paper even though the 2 trays were full. Despite changing the setting from standard to legal in many different places on printer and computer it would still revert back to standard and not print the full document or at all. I returned the machine but they can’t give me that day of trying to get it working correctly back!
