It comes with a very long cable that can be stand alone charging. You really won't need to worry about the battery draining over time and the solar panel is able to really keep it charged. My camera is set to the highest detection and optimal surveillance setting. The camera has a very large capacity battery. Honestly you could have no sunlight for a week and still be able to have enough battery life for it. Then on a sunny day, the sun will change it full in about one day from about 20% life left.

It does come with extension cable for solar panel so you can place panel where you can get more sun power. I installed my camera with solar panel right top of the camera. My camera get 20~25 video footage per day and my battery never go down less than 95%.
