No the system requires internet or a router to connect the home base to but if that goes down the door bell part still works. That said in my opinion for me it came down to two things: subscription and where the data is stored. The reason I chose this system is no subscription required because the data is stored locally in the home base and more importantly I choose who gets access to the data and it is not stored in the cloud for some bone head to get to. If you are wondering about being able to share the data with police...no worries as within the last two weeks our local news shared info about a porch pirate caught by a home owners EUFY system.

If the camera is for whatever reason is stolen then you won't be able to retrieve your footage on the local homebase. You will have to have a backup.
