• No, you doesn't require a Cloud subscription to record a video. It's your choice. You can record a video on your cell phone by hitting record. You can take snap shots the same way too. You can also use an SD card to record. SD card slot is within the camera that is present on the unit, and gets exposed when using the Privacy Mode.
