No. There is no option for heat only. A sign on top states not to cover the heater.

No. You can only do the opposite. Turn the flames on without heat.

No, flames come on first without heat. Then heat 1 setting. Then heat 2 setting.

My goodness, it isn't that bright. And anyway, the light of the fire will put you to sleep watching the fire. It will not bother you at all.

You can turn the lights off, but not without turning the heater off. However, the effect of the lights make it soothing to fall asleep with, similar to having a campfire.
